2015 FIA WEC Video Update: Silverstone
FIA WEC stands for Formula International Association World Endurance Championship. WEC is the racing circuit that sponsors one of the most famous races ever, the 24 Hours of LeMans.
Like Formula One and Formula E, racing technology for this circuit has long outstripped the need for the Big Heavy Engine. WEC is about powerful hybrid technology.
On this circuit you’ll find cars like the Porsche 919 Hybrid, seen above. Audi field the eTron, the worlds most powerful diesel hybrid racer, as well as the Toyota TS040 Hybrid.
In the opening race of the 2015 series Porsche 919s held the starting row. But in the end of what Porsche called a “thrilling and totally dry race”, Audi bested the boys from Stuttgart by 4.6 seconds.
