Watch a Formula E Racer Mark the Return of Racing to Geneva

In 1955, a crash and the resulting debris killed 83 people at LeMans.  As a result, Switzerland banned motor racing. Since then, we have all witnessed how leaps in technology has made auto racing safer than many of us would have imagined.

Apparently the Swiss have noticed–and have responded.  Earlier this year, the Swiss government voted to welcome racing back to their country.  To commemorate, Swiss driver Simona de Silvestro took a Formula E racer on a prowl along the Geneva waterfront.  The event took place during the media previews for the 85th Geneva International Motor Show.

Will we see Geneva as a stop on the 2015 Formula E schedule?  Who knows.  The Swiss are pretty progressive, and Formula E is a glimpse of the future of automobiles and motorsports.  We’ll see.
