4 Cool Things Hyundai is Showing at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show

Fresh off it’s debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai will show their Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept, the 2015 Tuscon Fuel Cell SUV, specialty vehicles from SEMA and new Connected Car technology at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

Making its Chicago debut, Hyundai’s innovative Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept reflects a completely new interpretation of truck utility for a new generation of car buyers. Also, for the first time ever, the zero-emissions Tucson Fuel Cell will be driven in Chicago by media attending the Concept & Technology Garage event. The vehicle will also be on display at the Hyundai booth during media and public days of the show. In addition, several of Hyundai’s SEMA tuner vehicles will make their Chicago debut this year, celebrating designs from some of the best aftermarket engineers in the industry.

“Hyundai’s focus on innovative design, safety and technology continues to forge a path for our current and future products,” said Brandon Ramirez, senior group manager, product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “With products like the Tucson Fuel Cell and our Blue Link smartwatch app, we strive to deliver a consistent cadence of advanced technologies to meet the needs of today’s customers and provide the highest owner experience.”

The Korean automaker will also show off their fuel cell vehicle, the Tuscon BlueDrive SUV as well.  The Tuscon BlueDrive is in California showrooms right now.

“Hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles represent the next generation of zero-emission vehicle technology, so we’re thrilled to be a leader in offering the mass-produced, federally certified Tucson Fuel Cell to retail customers,” said John Krafcik, president and chief executive officer, Hyundai Motor America. “The superior range and fast-fill refueling speed of our Tucson Fuel Cell vehicle contrast with the lower range and slow-charge characteristics of competing battery electric vehicles. We think fuel cell technology will increase the adoption rate of zero-emission vehicles, and we’ll all share the environmental benefits.”

If you’re in Cali, you can lease a Tuscon BlueDrive for $499/month, with unlimited hydrogen refueling at equipped Hyundai facilities.  The SUV can refuel in under 10 minutes and has a range of 300 miles.  Since it is a repurposed existing model, BlueDrive owners become part of Hyundai’s “At Your Service” valet program.  If you have a problem, the dealer will bring you a loaner to use while your vehicle is in service.  Nice.

Hyundai will have their new Bluelink smart watch and phone software on hand, to demonstrate how easy it is to interact with their Connected Car technology.
