Formula-E is Coming to Battersea Park in London

On June 27, 2015, London will host the final race in the inaugural Formula-E series.  To mark yesterday’s announcement, the Brits cleared London Bridge for an invasion of another kind.  Talk about Cool Britannia all over again.

The circuit isn’t finalized, but will lie within the boundaries of Battersea Park.  Not a surprise, as F1 races in a park for the Canadian Grand Prix.  Talking completely off the top of my head, it seems reasonable that it could be easier and cheaper to prepare streets for racing in a park rather than regular streets.  I’m sure there are a number of other advantages as well.

The only thing I’m not really crazy about is the length of the season.  It spans close to an entire year.  Having said that, I’m aware of the effort and cost that it has taken to get the circuit to this point.  I’m glad to have F-E.  I would hope that as the years go by, we could get to seasons that lie within a calendar year.
